Beneath the Lights of Our Grand City

Joshua Cintron

Some of us spend years convinced love is a story other people get to live. This poem is for the person who proved that story wrong, one ordinary day at a time.

I’ve heard people say love doesn’t exist, but I’ve
learned those

people say it because they’ve yet to experience
love for themselves. I’ve

heard people say love is a fairytale found in
children’s books, but I’ve

learned those people say it because they’ve yet
to experience love to write

their own book. I was one of those people and
what you’ve done to

change my mind, to make me a believer in the
fairytale of love, is a

story I share with you now – to the rest of the
world, for all of time.
