A Dedicated Heart, a Trusting Mouth

Joshua Cintron

Love without commitment and trust is just a feeling, not a foundation. This poem is about what I try to hold onto when things get hard: dedication, honesty, and the discipline to keep showing up.

Dedication.
Commitment.
Trust.
Honesty.

You hold these attributes
in the palms of your hands.

You expect only the same in return
that I hold them in my hands.

With clinched fist; open hand; wave of a
finger, they combat the howling wind of
temptation blowing in and around life.

No challenge will ever be too great, to give
unto you what you give unto me
a dedicated heart, a committed mind, a
trusting mouth, and an honest love.
