Goosebumps in a Cool Breeze
There’s a look she gives me that I’ve never gotten used to, no matter how many years pass. My skin reacts before my mind does; a quick chill that has nothing to do with the weather. I wrote this poem to hold onto that exact feeling, before I could explain it away or let it become ordinary.
When you look at me, your stare penetrates
me. A cool breeze triggers
a synchronized dance of goosebumps taking
stage on my arms.
Quick is the cadence, twitching my limbs,
chilling my body in excitement.
