Loss of Mother Poem for Funeral: You Live in Nature Now

Mom, the words I want to say

to express my deep pain in
losing you are nowhere
to be found.

My mind is overloaded, my
heart misfiring, my spirit
hoping you’re in a better
place.

I want you—I need you right
now to kiss me one last time,
to squeeze me one last time,
to whisper ‘I love you’ one last
time.

I know now I’ll only be able
to talk to you in the quiet of
night, in the pit of my
stomach, in the silent force
surrounding me;

feeling your boundless love in
the drops of rain, in the sun’s
heat.

Rest in peace mom.
